First
e-mails on board Alitalia - Marketing Services,
Inflight & Ground Marketing
Services
On
December 27, the first connection
via satellite for the transmission
of e-mails on board, was successfully
completed on an Alitalia B767.
This service is being tested
by Alitalia, who is one of
the first European airlines
currently involved in this
challenging opportunity, along
with Lufthansa and British
Airways. The system in test
phase by our company is supplied
by Air TV Data, through the
satellite Data 3 Global Network.
However, another supplier
may be chosen in the future
(talks are also being conducted
with Connexion by Boeing).
If these results started on
our long-haul routes operated
with B767s are successful,
the system will be implemented
at first on the long haul
and possibly extended also
to the medium haul, depending
upon demand requirements.
In the medium term, the service
available on board will also
enable our passengers to surf
the Internet and in the future
it will be possible to watch
Live TV.
Code
share - Malev (MA)
Alitalia
and Malev (MA) have renewed
their code share for the Summer
2003 on the flights operated
by MA between Budapest and
MXP, FCO, VCE and BLQ.
Beginning
this month our passengers
will find on board our flights
the winter edition of the
GriffAir catalogue. There
are many new articles in the
catalogue, such as the latest
Versace Skincare products
for the body and the famous
Transvital cosmetics. The
latest watches by Calvin Klein
are another of the new selections.
The list goes on with the
new fashion accessories by
Trussardi and Alviero Martini
for man and woman; with the
Silhouette sunglasses, selected
by NASA for its astronauts
in the space, and the sunglasses
by Adidas; as well as the
digital watch Majestic with
animated icons for weather
forecasts. The Salvatore Ferragamo
promotion, entitling MilleMiglia
members who purchase a product
of the designer to double
the number of regular miles,
will also be continued until
March 31.
Arrival
of the first AZ Boeing 777
The
first B-777, named Portofino,
arrived at Alitalia and will
enter into schedule service
on November 21 between Rome
and New York on flights AZ610
and AZ611. By the end of 2002,
another 777 will operate the
Rome-Tokyo route. The entry
of this new type of aircraft
into our fleet is further
confirmation of Alitalia's
continued improvement and
alignment with products and
services offered by SkyTeam
partners, which are aimed
at giving customers first-rate
comfort and safety. The AZ
B-777 has a 291-seat configuration
with 42 seats in Magnifica
and 249 seats in Economy class.
For the arrival of our first
B-777, a welcome ceremony
sponsored by Boeing and by
General Electric was held
on November 08 in hangar 7
at Fiumicino airport to introduce
the new aircraft. The ceremony
was attended by about 1000
people, including our top
management and a large number
of employees and flight crew,
the Italian Minister for Infrastructure
and Transportation, the President
of Boeing Italia and many
representatives from companies
that have commercial agreements
with Alitalia.

Flyers
for the new Boeing 777! - Marketing Services
On
the occasion of the entry
of the new B-777s in the Alitalia
fleet, two promotional flyers
for the client and the trade
have been produced in both
Italian and English. The version
for our customers, which is
being distributed at Alitalia
offices, airports and travel
agencies, illustrates in detail
in-flight services and comfort
features. It will also be
enclosed in the November issue
of our Ulisse in-flight magazine.
The second flyer, produced
in collaboration with Sales
Italy, is in distribution
to the trade and contains
more specific information
for travel agents including
the details that distinguish
the new aircraft in terms
of technology and service
quality. Another flyer, with
the new procedures for carry
on luggage has also been created
in two languages and will
be soon circulated at airports
and Alitalia travel agencies.
New
In-flight services for Magnifica - Inflight
Marketing Services
Effective
November 21, new in-flight
services such as an 'open
bar' will be introduced exclusively
on board our B-777s. As of
November 11, some of our Magnifica
class services have also been
improved on our long haul
flights. Improvements include
a new 'show trolley' which
has been designed to serve
drinks and food at the same
time during the main service.
Another innovation regards
the choice of the breakfast
which will be offered directly
during the service and no
longer requested in advance.
Passengers will be asked beforehand
whether they would like to
be awakened for breakfast
and in order to avoid disturbing
those who wish to rest a 'do
not disturb' sticker will
be placed on their seat; in
addition, no announcement
will be made for the breakfast
service.
